Celeste Stoney in Los Angeles Daily News- Performes at Hollywood Unplugged

Lucky Strike Live is enjoying a successful streak.

Several weeks ago, the bowling and entertainment venue rolled out a free Thursday night music series at its newly renovated Hollywood & Highland location. Dubbed “Hollywood Unplugged,” the weekly event shines the spotlight on a who’s who of guest artists in a “low-key, speakeasy, plush” setting that’s distinctly Hollywood.

“We’re all about being a local flavor venue,” says Barry Pointer, head of marketing and live entertainment for all 19 Lucky Strike locations nationwide. “We get our share of tourists but it’s a very small part of what we do here. We’re more about the people that are here day in, day out.”

“Hollywood Unplugged” was the creation of Thaddeus Dixon, a touring musician turned producer and songwriter who has taken on the unofficial role as music director for Lucky Strike Live.

He envisioned the series as an opportunity for songwriters, artists and producers to network with movers and shakers in the industry — a salon, if you will.

“I’m from Detroit, Mich., and when I first moved to L.A. I was looking for places where I could go meet different people in the industry, and that is something we have created here,” Dixon says.

For regular folks, it’s a chance to experience live music from a mix of up-and-coming and established artists as they pass through town. Past standouts have included Chris Brown Entertainment recording artist Sabrina Antoinette; Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and musician Timothy Bloom and singer-songwriter Celeste Stoney.

With her soulfully dynamic and powerfully articulate vocals providing the arresting centerpiece, singer/songwriter Celeste Stoney’s on-stage heart-on-the-sleeve passion is what marks her out as one to watch, this potent combination the personification of the elemental importance of music and performing to her life, with Stoney saying that this instinctive affinity reflects the fact that ‘I’ve just loved music since before I can remember, and I couldn’t imagine my life without it’. Proving her statement that ‘I love having a big band behind me, with horns and background singers, you know, I just love that organic sound; that real music, that feelgood music’, here Stoney gives a powerhouse rendition of Tina Turner’s ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’ at a recent Hollywood showcase.

Growing up around music, her grandmother was an opera singer and her father a self-taught musician, Stoney has been singing and performing since age five. Influenced by soul music and the pop stars of the 80′s – Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Madonna – she says ‘I love melody driven songs…the melody is so important, big hooks, and just songs that touch the soul’, with these things being reflected in her own musical mix of pop, soul & retro-funk, all of which is crowned by the effortless power and control of her richly distinctive voice.

A talented songwriter signed to global publisher Peermusic, with a catalogue of over 300 songs, Stoney began in the music business as a studio writer and singer at Def Jam Records. With a decade of collaborations with Grammy winners and Billboard platinum artists, her achievements as a songwriter include a UK #9 for ‘Bad Girl’ with rapper Fugative, ‘Lightning’ on American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez’s debut album, and ‘Exit Wounds’ on Bobby Brown’s comeback album. Having worked in the studio writing for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, and One Direction, as well as on several TV and film projects, she also has a platinum plaque for her feature on Ja Rule’s ‘Last Temptation’ album.

Having appeared on ‘Making The Band’ and ‘American Idol’, Stoney is now forging her own path on the music scene, recently stepping out into the spotlight as an artist in her own right with ‘My Kind Of Crazy’ and a gig at the House Of Blues. Looking to share with others her belief that ‘music should touch the soul, it should comfort, it should heal; it should do all those things’, she hopes to ‘make music that makes people smile, makes them laugh, that makes them want to dance…gets them through a hard day, a bad break up, you know, makes them want to fall in love, or just heal them from the pain of losing someone’, adding that ‘I’ve dreamed of this my whole life, and there’s nothing else that I could ever imagine doing that gives me this much joy’.

Celeste Stoney Announces her First Single “My Kinda Crazy”

Los Angeles, CA. (August 22, 2014) — Seasoned performer and songwriter Celeste Stoney is no stranger to the music business. After being the magic behind the lyrics of many successful songs, Stoney has announced her plans to pursue her own career as a recording artist. Stoney today announced that her highly anticipated single “My Kinda Crazy” from her upcoming EP Chameleon will be available exclusively on her website August 24, 2014, with a commercial release expected in early September.

“I am so excited about my single release. It has been a long time coming,” said Stoney. “I have been blessed to work with some amazing people throughout my career. So many of them asked me when I would release something of my own. I finally decided that it was the right time to do this. My songs have big hooks and strong melodies that take you on a ride and make you feel something. I wanted “My Kinda Crazy” to portray that.”

Stoney performed for a sold out crowd at the House of Blues on May 31st, impressing both industry figures and music fanatics. She will take the stage once again as the headlining performer on August 24th where she will debut “My Kinda Crazy.” Stoney will leave her mark on this venue as one of the last artists to perform before the House of Blues on Sunset’s demolition.

Stoney has engaged with top-notch producers in the music industry, such as Dr. Luke’s camp, who have produced artists, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, and other Grammy Award winning artists. Starting from Def Jam/Murder Inc. Records, she has earned a Platinum Record as a songwriter and singer for Ja Rule’s “Murder Reigns.” She co-wrote and was a featured artist on Foxy Brown’s single “I Need a Man.” Stoney also topped the charts in the UK with the single “Bad Girl” with rapper Fugitive. Even on screen, Stoney has made her way as an “American Idol” finalist as well as a member of “Making the Band 3.”

In 2013, The Music Industry Trade Magazine Amalgamation recognized Stoney as “One to Watch.” She earned first place at the 14th Annual USA Songwriting Competition for best R&B song. On any given day you can find Stoney in the studio writing songs for the likes of Grammy Award winning chart topping artists Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, One Direction, Ariana Grande, Adam Lambert and many more.

This year, Stoney has made a special appearance at the Dynamic Producer’s Event at the Los Angeles Film School. Stoney joined Midi Mafia’s Bruce Waynne, Timbaland Production’s Rachel Assil, Peermusic’s Richard Harris, and artist Brittany Barber. Stoney has teamed up with Cash Money’s Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne’s Canadian artist Karine Hannah, writing her first single, “Burning Up,” which was released this June. “It’s fun to step outside my life and write from someone else perspective, its kind of like acting,” said Stoney.
